This page gives information about the various competition events and categories. There are links to specific competition results at the side of the page. Competitions
Heart of England hold a number of Regional Competitions each year. These are usually open to all students within the stated categories. The list of events is constantly developing. Heart of England will operate categories and judge the competitions in accordance with ITF Rules and Regulations. Categories may be subject to change or cancelation due to insufficient entries.

Categories and Disciplines
Each competition usually has the following categories and disciplines;
Junior TKD also known as Kids Kickers (4 - 7years) - split into mixed groups according to height (See below)
Pattern or Competition Drill Sparring High Kick Speed Test
Cadets (8 - 13 Years) split into groups according to ITF height & grade categories (See below)
Boys and girls may compete against each other in all events if there are insufficient entries.
Patterns - Usually split into Dan Grades / Belt Colours unless insufficient entries Sparring - All categories spar continuous. Usually split into Dan grades / Belt Colours unless insufficient entries High Kick - All grades compete together Speed Test - All belt categories compete together
Juniors - (14 to 17 Years) - Male & Female Usually separated according to ITF weight and grade categories (See below)
Patterns - Usually split into Dan grades / Belt Colours unless insufficient entries Sparring - All categories spar continuous. Usually split into Dan grades / Belt Colours unless insufficient entries Destruction - Boards (Hand and Foot Techniques as per ITF competitions) Special Technique - Open to all belt categories. Usually split into Dan grades / Belt Colours unless insufficient entries
Adults & Seniors - Male & Female - Usually separated according to ITF weight & grade categories (See below)
Adults - 18 to 35 inclusive Seniors - 36 and over
Patterns - Usually split into Dan grades / Belt Colours unless insufficient entries Sparring - All categories spar continuous. Usually split into Dan grades / Belt Colours unless insufficient entries Destruction - Boards (Hand and Foot Techniques as per ITF competitions) Special Technique - Open to all belt categories. Usually split into Dan grades / Belt Colours unless insufficient entries
Senior Categories now apply to all grades (subject to sufficient entries being received)
Patterns Competitions - Competitors must perform a Pattern appropriate to their grade in accordance with ITF Rules.
The final in a Patterns Competition will involve a designated pattern chosen by the judging panel.
Designated patterns can be any pattern up to and including Gae-Baek for 1st Degrees, Kodang for 2nd Degrees and so on.
